1 Movie. 1 Client.
Produce a space for Disgust that reflects her characteristics and habit
Progress
The task is to design a space for the user/client, ONE (1) of the characters from the movie ‘INSIDE OUT’. The space designed should embody and reflect the user’s/client’s characteristics, traits, behavioural actions, and habits based on the students’ interpretations and findings.
Watching Inside Out

My task is to design a space for a character from the movie ‘INSIDE OUT’ named Disgust. I first watched the movie and observed not just her, but also the what tends to happen around her what she makes people feel, as well. asher physical habits
Sketches

Sketches were freely made to express ideas and thought arrangement of both the client's characteristics and the functionality of the space. Bubble diagrams and loose sketches were made, all while considering the ergonomics of Disgust. Tiers in the spaces emerged when the concept of the space reflected Disgust's lifeline.
Mockup

The idea was tested out on a mockup (half-size) made with mounting board, bamboo sticks and foam board. After analysation, a few issues were deducted. First, a lack of connectivity between the tiers. Second, the grid structure was too dictated and repetitive. Lastly, it was too open, and lacked a solid framework.
Progressive solutions

Moving forward, effective solutions were thought of to solve the issues. It required many trial and error, and many different ideas before a seemed-perfect one. The specific solutions are elaborated in the final presentation board
Final Model

A final model was built following the progression made from the mockup. Brown kraft paper, white modelling board and black mounting board. The theme was to keep colours minimalistic and clean, in order to contrast with the black crystallizing structure
Detailed shots

Photography was practiced at this stage to get detailed shots of the final model. It was also double-roled to showcase the ergonomics of Disgust realtive to the space
Manual rendering

A rendering of the space was done using pencils. Shadows, figures, and the landscape was added onto the final model
Presentation board

A presentation board was done using a mix of Canva, Photoshop, and Procreate. It was segregated into three main parts: overview, design process and the final model pictures. Some effects were also added in Photoshop to complete the deign and look of the board.

Reflection
Lifelong Learning
I've learned to progress independently apart from the weekly tutorials available and be disciplined. I was also intellectually engaged when my tutor gave me feedbacks and advices into how I should improve on my ideas
Discipline Specific Knowledge
I've learned to learn from real-life examples form my tutor's pinterest boards as well as analyse characters and personalities. With these knowledge, I've learned to properly apply those knowledge by conveying it into a new space identity as a whole
Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
As the name of the module, I became capable of thinking creatively and critically, especially in the Define stage. I've grown to be capable of analysing problems and ideas and arrive at decisions in order to proceed.
Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
I faced many challenges, especially in getting inspiration and re-analyzing mockups. When I was advised to improve on it, I searched and learned from references online.
Communication Skills
I've learned to communicate with my tutor whenever I was stuck, or when I was in doubt about what to do. With limited time in tutorials, I learned to ask smart and crucial questions
Intrapersonal Skills
I am now capable of reflecting upon my past work and ethics. I believe I have done well as I was able to complete the assignment without last-minute rushing. Despite having obstacles, I overcame them with grit and patience.
