Progress

Progress

Before even starting, I made sure to familiarise myself with the assignment brief made made a mental note on the requirements. Small details were taken note of such as ll team members are to appear in the video and the video has to be under 8 minutes. We also had to prepare research materials and scripts alongside the video.

Discussion

I was elected as a team leader and I opened a discussion as to which video we should work on. After the discussion, we decided to work on "Frozen Worlds." I proceeded to give members a week to watch the video and confirmed a meeting date to discuss about the task delegation and content of our research.

Watching the documentary

We watched the documentary individually among ourselves as we had a lot of assignments that needs to be done concurrently. The documentary explored on the natural setting of Antarctica.

Meeting & Research

In the meeting, I made sure everyone was clear on what we had to do. As a team, we decided on the task segregation according to each member's interest. After the meeting, everyone started on their research.

When everyone finished their research, we scanned through each other's work to double check for any mistakes or room for improvement. I realised that one of our teammates was confused and went off-topic on the research. Thus, I left some pointers and examples to help her refocus on our topic of climate change.

Scriptwriting

Each member filtered out information that they think should be included in the script by highlighting them. With the highlighted information, I turned them into dialogues in the script. Other than transferring information, I also made sure to convey the information in a way that seems like a discussion rather than a lecture. I then highlighted for my group members' ease of reading.

Rehearsal

We rehearsed during tutorial class in the breakout rooms our tutor assigned us into. We also recorded this as our draft recording to prevent repeated recordings in the future. Our tutor then commented on our draft recording:

  • can add video clips/images / notes when you describe about the points

  • use plain background

  • Aiai should be in a proper framing, like others

  • voice is okay. clear and interactive

  • flow is good

Bloopers

We started to record our video for submission and wore proper clothing according to our roles. As you can see, there were definitely bloopers because of our excited and nervous we were to be recorded. Nevertheless, it was fun!

Recording

This process was quite smooth due to the rehearsals we have. We took about 12 minutes and were having fun listening to our own voices after we finished recording. Once everyone was satisfied with their part in the video, Angel (video editor) started to piece the video together.

Draft work and Tweakings

The video editing was done and our first draft for the video was produced. However, there was definitely room for improvement. I watched the video thoroughly and listen down the mistakes to correct.
