Progress

Progress

Students need to draw selected items and produce observational drawings with distinctive styles, and to produce and differentiate basic line drawings without renderings and sketches with shading techniques.

Taking pictures

Taking proper pictures, especially for the technical drawings, were the first step to drawing good technical drawings. I've learned that pictures are not to be identically translates to drawings, but to use as a guideline, and to take pictures with good lighting for fine art drawings.

Technical Drawings

I started drawing the plan view, front view and section view of the measuring tape. I learnt that technical drawings emphasise a lot on accuracy, and the ability to translate scale

Feedback from Tutor

Feedbacks from my Tutor for my first draft included approval on the organic drawings, and much improvement needed for the letterings, as well as line quality.

Second Draft

After correcting the minor amendments pertaining to the fonts, it was almost complete My tutor particularly liked the rendering drawing alot, as it showed the fore and back of the hollow basket. I used a series of B to 3B pencils for the fore, and a series of H to 4H pencils for the back, creating the contrast.

Lifelong Learning

I've learned to progress independently apart from the weekly tutorials available and be disciplined. I was also intellectually engaged when my tutor gave me feedbacks and advices into how I should rearrange my ideas.

Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills

I faced many challenges, especially in the architectural lecturing and observational drawings. When I was advised to improve on it, I searched and learned from references online. I also consulted my friends who were good at fine arts, and got some photography tips to observe light directions

Communication Skills

I've learned to communicate with my tutor whenever I was stuck, or when I was in doubt about what to do. With limited time in tutorials, I learned to ask smart and crucial questions
